Over 6 months in!

So I've been on Accutane for longer than expected. Not because of my skin or the medicine not working but simply because of having to skip pills (and forgetting a few days here and there). Oops.

So I'm into February when January was my 6th month on it. But I skipped 10 days when I had my kidney infection in order to heal quicker (doctor's orders!) and then I've forgotten sometimes.

I went to my derm appointment last Friday and she said that I have to be on Accutane for at least another month and that my skin is finally looking good. I'm pretty disappointed that I have to be on it for another month because my lips are pretty destroyed and they're very painful.

I haven't had any breakouts in what seems like a lifetime. It is such a huge relief.

Side Effects: I've been dealing with cracking, bleeding, raw, painful lips. You can see in the pictures that the left side of my lips they are busting open. It sort of looks like a cold sore from far away but it is from the dry lips from the Accutane. The Accutane building in my system combined with the cold weather here has made this an issue. I've also had dry eyes on some days so I've been using eye drops.

My scars are fading and looking better but they're still bothering me. I also think I'm going to have a scar from that place on my lips. Booooooo.

Skin Care Routine: I have started using coconut oil on my face every day. Every few days I mix a little baking soda with the coconut oil for some exfoliation to get all of the dry skin off. This has helped the dry patches a lot. I also use the coconut oil all over my body which has helped with the eczema patches I was getting on my arms. It is so good for you to use products that are as natural as possible. Annnnnnd it makes me smell like a big delicious coconut! That's always a plus.

They're backwards this time. Left side, front, right side.
